  • Because this Gala event was still relatively new our team had opportunity to develop the branding from the ground up as long as it adhered to the established theme of Golden. The theme was chosen to celebrate the anniversary Austin Community College as well as promote the Amy Hopkins Scholarship.

During the discovery phase our team unanimously decided to individually develop our mood boards pertaining to the theme and then regroup and share our findings.

For my mood board the theme Golden inspired me to combine the classy ambiance of Great Gatsby or Roaring '20s, with the behind-the-scenes aspects of the fashion creation process.

Sketches

For my role on this project, it was my job to focus on creating model sketches to be used for our promotional materials including social media posts, posters, and the event tickets. In order to accomplish this, I turned to Pinterest as a source of inspiration in finding model poses and clothing references.

Digital Ideations

After sketching the models, I transferred the sketches to illustrator to turn them into vectors. This part of the journey taught me much about what worked best for translating sketches into Illustrator. I tried various methods throughout the project and found that the while the Image Trace tool is beneficial for making vectors during a time crunch. The Pen and Curvature tools were the best for tracing the sketches to create clean models.
